A Quick Peek on Drug Abuse in Florida
Florida is one of the major states wherein a multitude of several multi-ethnic groups converge. The state is also known for its infamous reputation as one of the common venues wherein drug trafficking occurs. Its short distance to the West Indies and South America, places which produce great amounts of illegal drugs, makes it one of the most plausible venues in which drug trades are made. Thus, the state of Florida is labeled as one of the major springboards of heroin and cocaine shipments into Canada and the Northeastern United States. As a matter of fact, several records show that the Miami International Airport still maintains its reputation as being the leading area in which local drug smugglers and traffickers acquire their "stash."
Drugs in Florida
Various types of drugs have been known to permeate the population of Florida. Club drugs, ecstasy, cocaine, and heroin are the common types of drugs that can be found in the state of Florida. However, among these illegal substances, cocaine remains to be the drug of choice by the majority. It has been also determined that a bulk of cocaine's supply usually comes from the Mexicans and the Dominican drug rings through the West Indies. Authorities have also confiscated large amounts of cocaine from the Caribbean corridor. Cocaine has also been linked to various gang related violence, robberies, homicides, inner city crime, prostitution, and poverty. Because of these, cocaine also proves to be a major threat to Florida's safety, stability, and economic stature.
Another kind of drug that is prominent in Florida is club drugs or more commonly known as "ecstasy". This particular drug comes in different forms and is usually known for its capability to induce a certain feeling of euphoria once administered into the body, hence, its name. Due to Florida's large annual tourist population, large quantities of club drugs are also disseminated around its neighboring states.
Meanwhile, heroin is also present in Florida. Although it is not really that popular, there are large amounts of the said drug present in Florida. Majority of this specific drug comes from Mexico and South America, and it is either brought in via air or using private couriers.
Due to its rampant substance addiction, which can be blamed on Florida's possession of illegal drugs in large quantities, the state ushered in a plethora of drug treatment centers that aim to help its citizens to completely veer away from the ill-effects of these harmful substances. Harnessing Florida's innate natural and tranquil beauty, individuals who are hooked on drugs will find it a lot easier to give up their destructive vice through an effective addiction treatment program.
